Debt Free Christians -- Walk In Faith With A Clearn Conscience...and Credit Report

Everyone expects Christians to be debt free. But like everyone else, Christians are people too with real people issues. However, there are services for those who want to be debt free Christians. And what are debt free Christians? Debt free Christians are happy Christians who have made a few creditor errors -- like we all do -- but are on the right path to credit heaven. Debt free Christians believe in the mantra "help thy neighbor," and with the extra money being saved, they will be more than glad to do so.

Are there any debt free Christians out there?

That is an excellent question and we have been very careful to research this question from a Biblical perspective. Whether a Christian can get into debt ("money or property which one is obligated to to pay another") is being debated within the Christian community. Some say it is not O.K. for Christian to owe any money, even for auto and/or home loans. Others say that it is O.K. to sustain some personal debt as long as: 1.) the item purchased is an asset with the potential to appreciate or 2.) to produce an income or the value of the item equals or exceeds the amount owed against it, or 3.) the debt is not so large that repayment puts undue strain on the budget. Scripture tells us to owe no man any thing, but to love one another (Romans 13:8). Proverbs warns us that, Just as the rich rule over the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7) . It is also clear in scripture that we are to pay back what we borrow: The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously (Psalm 37:21).

Being free from any financial encumbrances is an incredible empowering feeling. The Lord wants us to live an abundant life which becomes increasingly more difficult with increasing debt.

Look Towards The Scripture

Some have questioned whether scripture supports debt free Christian programs and all its benefits because some have felt that Christians are obligated to pay back what has been borrowed, including the agreed upon interest rate. What some programs are able to provide clients is the possibility to re-finance their debt at lower interest rates thus allowing our clients to reach their goal of being debt free that much sooner while paying back their entire debt! All of the creditors who do re-negotiate their interest rates do so voluntarily. Most, but not all, creditors do lower their rates, some even to zero interest! A creditor is not obligated to provide lower interest rates to clients. The vast majority do so voluntarily because they want to help their clients avoid bankruptcy and to maintain a positive relationship with them. Many Christians each day take advantage of this same financial concept in order to re-finance their home and auto loans at better interest rates. In fact, it's financially prudent to do so!
